Happy Holidays! I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and spending quality time with your loved ones. Before we dive into recommended books by my guests, I would love to hear what traditions you do each year. The past 5 years, one of our family traditions has been making 300 lunches for the people at The Mustard Seed in Calgary. It’s an afternoon of quality time with our family. All of us in the kitchen laughing, a bit of banter after a few Christmas drinks but had fun at all. I have posted a few pictures, so you can see all the carts of groceries required to make that many lunches. Head over to Maxumcorp.com.au/ Or you can also send a message and share your pictures on Inspiring Greatness Facebook page.

Onto our Top Recommended books. No one ever said it was easy being an entrepreneur. Whether you're in the early stages of your startup or running an established business, we all face many hurdles along the way and at times you may ask yourself- if this whole entrepreneur thing is worth it? This is one of the reasons I ask my guests each week to recommend their favorite book that has helped them along their entrepreneurial journey. I wanted to share their recommendations and take aways so they can help you learn, grow as an entrepreneur and provide a few tips to improve your business.
In my 20 + years as an entrepreneur I have turned to books & mentors for inspiration and advice as I rode the entrepreneur rollercoaster. Each book brought new lessons and helped me develop my ideas more precisely. The best books are the ones I even revisit years after I have first read them they have multiple folded pages, book marks tabs and full of highlighted sections. Best of all, they deliver a whole new a-ha moment depending on what is going on in my business each time I reopen it.
I’ve put together a list of fantastic book recommendations from my guests to help entrepreneurs at any stage of their journey.
So next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, lost or unsure of your entrepreneurial future – don’t throw in the proverbial white towel, keep your head up - or in a book rather, visit this list and draw some inspiration from those who have been there and share their experiences.
And before I get started, I realize that in today’s day and age we don’t always have the time to read. So I’ll also add links to the audiobook versions on the show notes page or try an app called Blinkist where 1000 of books summarized for you in small blinks, they two have an audio version. Head over to maxumcorp.com.au for the direct links.
Now onto our guests recommendations
Amazon: Blink, Malcolm Gladwell Blinkist: Blink, Malcolm Gladwell
Blink is a book about how we think without thinking, about choices that seem to be made in an instant-in the blink of an eye-that actually aren't as simple as they seem. Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept? Why do some people follow their instincts and win, while others end up stumbling into error? How do our brains really work-in the office, in the classroom, in the kitchen, and in the bedroom? And why are the best decisions often those that are impossible to explain to others?
Amazon: Scaling Up - Verne Harnish Blinkist: Scaling Up - Verne Harnish
This book is written so everyone -- from front line employees to senior executives -- can get aligned in contributing to the growth of a firm. There's no reason to do it alone, yet many top leaders feel like they are the ones dragging the rest of the organization up the S-curve of growth. The goal of this book is to help you turn what feels like an anchor into wind at your back -- creating a company where the team is engaged; the customers are doing your marketing; and everyone is making money.
Amazon: Relentless Tim Grover
For more than two decades, legendary trainer Tim Grover has taken the greats—Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and dozens more—and made them greater. Now, for the first time in paperback, he reveals what it takes to get those results, showing you how to be relentless and achieve whatever you desire
Law of Attraction - Michael Losier
Have you noticed that sometimes what you need just falls into place? Perhaps you've met the perfect client or life partner merely by being at the right place at the right time. On the other hand, there are some people who find themselves in one terrible relationship after another or who seem unable to shake off their bad luck. These experiences are evidence of a very powerful force. It's called the Law of Attraction, and right now it's attracting people, jobs, situations, and relationships to you.
Amazon: The 4 Hour Workweek - Timothy Ferris
