The relationship between western corporations and offshore teams has changed dramatically since the early development of this industry and is far beyond data input projects or customer service call centres. My first off shore experience was 15 years ago when I had a large electronic recycling company in Canada and we engaged people in Panama to disassemble computers and miscellaneous telephone equipment as so I am not a newbie to offshoring.  However, the industry today has evolved into a global resource of people talent where businesses can access highly trained staff at a low hourly rate.

As more business started to utilize offshoring services, concerns rose around the impact outsourcing these jobs would have on the domestic job market. “If we send the work to another country, what work will be left to do here?” However, one of the most exciting trends that has emerged from rising industry is the intrinsic support relationship between teams in Western countries and staff offshore. These support relationships and have provided massive growth opportunities for domestic business and as a result have created more jobs in the businesses home country.

Let’s explore some ways offshoring can provide growth opportunities for your business.

If your business is large enough to have a marketing team or a digital marketer, then you would already be feeling the pressure about how under-resourced your team or manager may feel. Digital marketing can be time consuming. Not only are you required maintain an online presence but you also have to transform this exposure into direct sales for your business.  Imagine how much more exposure your team can create with the assistance of an offshore marketing assistant to help with content creation and design assistance.

Or perhaps you employ a large amount of staff, then I can guarantee your HR Team is struggling to keep up with recruitment, industrial relations, training, compliance, and the multitude of HR related tasks needed to be completed daily. They have no time to actually be proactive and focus on rewards and recognition, staff events, professional development, and creating a positive workplace culture.

This is where the relationship between domestic teams and offshore staff has become most productive and exciting. By outsourcing tasks to offshore staff, domestic employees are freed to undertake higher-value work, rewarding strategic growth tasks and the cost-advantage increases profit which enables growth.

Even if your enterprise is not large enough to employ marketing teams or HR managers, you’re still going to have to find the resources and people power to complete these tasks, while you focus on strategy for growth and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

This is the core value of the globalised human talent pool. The ability for businesses to strategically utilise this industry to enable their domestic operations to grow.

The outsourcing industry in the Philippines is currently the 2nd biggest contributor to GDP and is set to hit number 1 in the next year or two. With half a million English-speaking university graduates entering the Philippines labour market each year, more and more overseas companies are engaging with offshore teams in the Philippines. The industry is growing, which shows, in the simplest of terms, that the industry is valued by those engaging with it.

There is no ‘cookie-cutter’ solution on how offshoring will best benefit each individual business. I’ve partnered with Beepo to offer the Inspiring Greatness Podcast community a fantastic free consultation that will highlight which areas of your business will benefit best from offshoring. Plus you’ll also receive 250 leads to boost your business.
